Washington County Youth Foundation Grant Cycle

Thank you for taking time to apply for a grant from Washington County Community Foundation to make a difference in our community.  Thanks to the generosity of our donors, we are able to open this grant cycle to support projects and programs that create positive change for our community while benefitting our residents.  

  1. The broad purpose of the Washington County Youth Foundation is to improve the quality of life in Washington County
  2. Unrestricted grants will be made only to organizations whose programs benefit the residents of Washington County.
  3. Grants from Washington County Youth Foundation must meet legal and tax requirements as to purpose and may be made only to non-profit organizations and causes.
  4. Grant recipients must show that their financial affairs are being properly administered and may be required to submit audited balance sheets and operating statements.
  5. To qualify for funding:
    1. Project must address a community need
    2. Project must be planned and implemented by a youth group in Washington County
    3. The youth group must be associated with a not-for-profit organization
  6. No grants will be made to support political parties or political campaigns.
  7. No grants will be made specifically for sectarian religious purposes but can be made to religious organizations for general community programs.
  8. No grants will be made exclusively for endowment creation and debt reduction of recipient organizations.
  9. The Foundation will not consider grant applications proposed by individuals or organizations responsible to advisory bodies or persons unless letters of recommendation or approval from said advisory bodies or persons accompany the grant proposals.
  10. Generally, grants will not be made for programs and/or equipment that were committed to prior to the grant application being submitted.
  11. Grantees must submit final grant evaluation reports before they are eligible to apply for another grant.
  12. The principle consideration in any grant is its effectiveness in meeting demonstrated or perceived health, education, cultural, recreational, environmental, recreational or social needs in the community, or in making studies to determine how best to meet such needs.
  13. Foundation funds ordinarily are not given to agencies for the purpose of meeting routine budgets.
  14. The participation of other contributions by using matching, challenge, and other grant techniques is strongly encouraged.
